Bulgarian-born French Expressionist Painter, 1885-1930,American painter, draughtsman and printmaker of Bulgarian birth, active in France. He attended secondary school in Vienna, returning in 1901 to Bucharest, where his family had settled, and working briefly in the office of his father's grain-merchandizing business. He was, however, already becoming passionately interested in drawing, for which he showed precocious talent. At the age of 16 he became the lover of a woman who ran a brothel and was allowed by her to draw the residents. Ochtman, Mina Fonda
American, 1862-1924 was the wife of the American painter Leonard Ochtman and a notable American Impressionist in her own right. She was a part of the Cos Cob Art Colony and lived in Greenwich, Connecticut. Their daughter, Dorothy Ochtman Del Mar, was also a painter of note.
Tom Thomson
(August 5, 1877 - July 8, 1917), also known as Tom Thomson, was an influential Canadian artist of the early 20th century. He directly influenced a group of Canadian painters that would come to be known as the Group of Seven, and though he died before they formally formed, he is sometimes incorrectly credited as being a member of the group itself. Thomson died under mysterious circumstances, which added to his mystique.
